Yea ive fished the Stambridge lake a couple of years ago, it was ok but got busy on weekends with noisey people.

Ive also heard about a place called The Warren in Stanford le Hope, thats meant to be a nice place!

IMHO The Warren is probably the best day ticket fishery in the area, it's always clean and well kept, the bailiffs are all friendly and I always seem to do well there! They have a website at

I tend to fish the Match lake when I have my son with me, and the main lake when alone for a bit more of a challenge :) The warren can get a bit busy at weekends, but the pegs are pretty well spread so it doesn't become too much of a problem.

As already mentioned by Peter M I've heard good things about CAA, but not actually been a member.

Billericay I have been a member of, and enjoyed fishing their waters, they lean a little towards Carp more than anything else, but there are plenty of the other species in there too!

Actually in Southend, theres Mill Barn, can be a little expensive, but it's well kept and well stocked, best fished on days they don't have matches on!

Just outside Rochford there is Doggets Lake, looks quite nice, but I've not fished it as it backs onto a bit of a dodgy looking council estate. I do plan on giving it a go at some point, at least for daylight sessions!

Mill Lane, turn off the Stambridge road onto Mill Lane (theres a big sign for a care home) at the bottom of the lane there are two small lakes, the one nearest the car park is mainly silverfish, the one further away mainly carp, my kids love the silverfish lake, really good roach fishing with an occasional surprise. We've not fished the carp lake yet.

Hope that gets you started!
