Unusual near death experiences

Well then, at the weekend we stayed with friends in Harrogate.

 

They lived in a flat with door closures on every door.

 

The kitchen door closure was set incorrectly and kept slamming the door.

 

DIY king here (how un true) decided that it needed adjustment!!!

 

Undid the arm from the frame and discovered that the arm had been painted stuck - I opened the door (big mistake) thus loading up the arm with energy just waiting to close the heavy door with its normal slam!! Then I skillfully slipped a flat balded screwdriver under the stuck arm.

 

Guess what happened.

 

Yep - correct all the stored energy that normally shut the very big and heavy fire door was free and un fettered - leaving the small steell arm to wip round at the speed of light and bury itself in a cinder block wall!!

 

Now if this had of been a modern flat it would have caught me in the temple (being 6'8") but fortunately it just brushed the top of my head.

 

Please tell me I'm not the only stupid person in the world.

My friends Dad went to hospital with his nose in his watch pocket doing the same thing Chesters.

 

The stupidist thing Ive ever done (And trust me Ive done some daft stuff in my time)as far as work is concerned was stopping half way through gas welding a seal on an old Austin 1100 to speak with a pall and absent mindedly scratching my itchy head with the hot end of the welding rod DOH! Ive still got the scar.

As a kid i had some toast jam and burn in the toaster, quickly a grabed a butter knife

and jabbed it into the toaster.

I recovered sitting on my Ar$e across the kitchen

I have loads of dumba$$ things I've done. One of them consisted of donating blood, in which I decided to lie down after. Half asleep the phone rang. After jumping up and running to it I found myself on the floor with no recollection of how I even got there.

 

I'm sure I can think of about a dozen more. Then again I'm not very clever.

 

 

Big Jeff- I hesitate to say that is the norm for houses up here. Not a single door in the place I rent is hung straight. In fact, out of the three houses I have rented near Harrogate, only one was not in need of some sort of fix.

Experience = stupidity + survival.

 

I've survived cutting the tip off my left thumb whilst cutting a bacon sandwich in half, mangling the tips of three fingers whilst atempting to clean a hand blender whilst it was still plugged in and sliceing into the base of my little finger and exposing the knuckle joint whilst attempting to get that last bit of dog food out of the can.

Suprisingly, my hands still seem to work ok.
