Car Insurance for Jap imports

Recommended Posts

Hiya,

Can anyone help.. I'm supposed to be buying a MITSUBISHI Challenger tomorrow and as it stands I cant find anyone that will insure it :(

It's a diesel Automatic and so far everyone I have tried will only insure it if it was a petrol with a manual gearbox.

Any suggestions great fully received before I have to pull out of the deal

Davy

All of these people have at some time insured Japanese Imports.

Mine is insured by Liverpool and Victoria, but I'm not sure if they are taking "new" business.

Be careful with the Jap import insurance. Some of the companies selling the jap imports know how impossible it is to find an insurance company to take you on and therefore hold a list of companies that will to enhance their sale.

We were offered a jap import last year and rang eight reputable insurance companies that wouldn't touch it at all. Contacted numerous companies on the net, all of whom would not touch it.

We went to a Jap import trader who gave us a list of insurance companies who would insure it. Out of 6 companies the cheapest was over £700.00. An acqaintance is paying over a £1000 for a pajero. This is from a reputable insurance company that won't accept any new jap import clients.

We decided to give it a miss and got a landrover instead :D

I pay Liverpool and Victoria just over £300 pa to insure my 3.0 litre turbo diesel Surf, fully comprehensive, any driver.

Most of the info about it being difficult to get insurance, spare parts, servicing etc is a load of tosh.

Liverpool Victoris insured my modified Evo - they were by far the easiest to deal with.

Best deal by far for my Toyota Surf 2.4 turbo diesel was Prestige insurance only £250 fully comp with me or the wife driving.
