Up yours Ex Fat Boy!

I have never been to an "eat all you want" Chinese Buffet in my life......................................and Im only sponcered by my local one Yeungs because of my dashing good looks and my proffesional name "Prince Chowmein"

NB:Budgies legal team would like to point out that the above might not be entirely true.

And thats my "non indicative opinion"!

All joking aside Budgie, I really think you should write a book. Same as 'Mr Bream' at Wingham. Both of you have so much experience and great stories, come on, sort it out!

I'll even edit it for you!

Maybe not big bream though :P At least, not yet :D

I cant justify paying the extra for a "collecters" book so will have to wait till I can get a second hand copy of Ebay! Or is it only the limited run your having done Mark?

Lots of specialist books (look at the many limited run carp titles) seem to be like this now.I accept that it only takes a few years and most then realise much more than the initial price but it kind of grips me as I dont really buy books as an investment but to read and see what knowledge I can glean from them!

Is it a crafty buisness move Mark, only a reletively small expected market,or just prohibitively expensive to do long runs that causes this?

Budgie,

not quite sure what you mean mate as regards "paying extra for a collectors book", unless you are referring to leatherbounds, which you are right mate they are pretty much bought only by collectors. The standard hardback is £30 which is about a parr for the course price for a hardback fishing book these days sadly.

I honestly wish that we could do it cheaper, but set up and print costs are so expensive now, that unless you do it abroad then thats what the cover price has to be. I love reading books of all sorts so them getting pricey is not one of the highlights of my life let me tell you, but like i said, unless you take work out of this country which i dont like doing, thats the price they have to be.

Elton,

I will get you a proper press release over soon. I am hanging on until we have a cover image for that, but at the moment Steve Harper is still painting it, so I dont have it to send mate. And thank you.

That's not just any old church, that's a Cathedral and also a ship.

On a clear day it beats any GPS gadget as well :D :D :D

I live about 16 miles from it and I can see it quite clearly today from home.

I just can't get out of the village onto the A14 as it's at a standstill [yet again]

No secret mate, the book contains a large section on the history of the area. In fact one of the reasons for writing the book was that when doing slideshows etc people wanted to know how the drains came about, and why they were called such as they were, ie: the sixteen or forty foot drains.

But obviously I am not going to spoil it by saying why here

Just shows how out of touch I am with prices of new books Mark!

I presume the answer to my question re the limited run is simply the initial outlay then?

In a roundabout kind of a way budgie, but in allhonesty its limited because its a very limited market. We could print 10,000 books and on that amount you could have a far lower cover price. Problem is that you wouldnt sell them!

Most pike fishing books are based around a 2,000 units point as being total sales. You can do more than this, but it takes a very long while and few anglers (which is what we are primarily) are in a financial position to be able to do so, certainly myself and Denis are not. :P
