ABU tightlines catalogue owners

yup it is fishing but posting here saves posting twice.

need info on 2 ABU rods ,i sea 1 coarse not in my 1978 version of tight lines

1) a 10ft sea rod (ABU4) SS100-M can anyone scan the page its on .

2) 13ft coarse rod (ABU1) feralite Mrk7 5* graphite

a tad expensive at £3 each

Hard to believe a graphite rod would have been that cheap when they were so new.

 

Not sure about the UK but graphite/carbon rods were first introduced into the US in 1972 (Fenwick and Shakespeare both offered one that year).

no the price is what i paid at a car boot newt ,in the 78 catalogue the float rod has a tiny mention as "new" but nothing much else (if indeed it is the same rod) its fiberglass.

the sea? rod is graphite so will be in later catalogues i presume

there was also a aBU spinning rod but it had metal ferrules so i declined it

Ah so. On a re-read I do see you said the float rod was not in your 1978 catalog. Most likely because it hadn't been made yet?
