Reverse telephone directory

Recommended Posts

Anybody know of an online reverse telephone directory for the UK.

The reason - just got a 'phone bill and the same number crops up at regular intervals sometimes only minutes apart. Small charges of a few pence a time, so it is not a 'rogue dialler' premium rate thingy. Some calls are when the Computer is switched off and I am in the land of nod.

So if I could input the number and find who is at the other end it would help solve the mystery and I could possibly then argue with my supplier.

I'd Google the number first. If it's a business, chances are it will crop up.

By 'Fax machine' you mean it sounds like one? (Beeeeeb Burble etc)

That's a modem! same as your PC's (dodgy dialer?) or your PDQ machine or your FAX, but from the sounds of it the PDQ (Credit card machine), If in doubt whip it out & see if them odd bills go away.

Just contact the customer services department of your telephone supplier and explain to them your concerns over this number. Ask them to get their Switch (exchange) to put the number on observation and also look at the routing. They will be able to tell who owns the number and features set up on it. If, indeed, it is 'dodgy' ask them to block the number. They should then also deal with the fraudulent side of things if that is the case.
