But, but, but.........isn't it all about passive smoking?

I don't know the true figures, but bet you are more likely to be hit by a drunk driver or whacked over the head with a bottle by some guy who is drunk than suffer ill effects from passive smoking. So should we ban drinking alcohol in public establishments due to the detrimental health risk to third parties?

Eat right, stay fit, die anyway.

There's a crucial difference here between smoking and drinking.

It's the act of smoking that causes innocent deaths. Drinking causes them only when combined with driving - which of course is already against the law.

Unfortunately, it's peer pressure that starts many youngsters smoking. If they only realised how much it affects their chances of getting a boyfriend/girlfrind they might think twice.

I only once had a girlfriend who smoked. I decided never again. It was like kissing an ashtray!

If only they realised how much it is going to cost them £ wise as well as health wise. :(

Yep, peer pressure got me hooked, now it seems i'm classed in society along side crack-heads, rapists and just about any other low life.

I wouldn't say that was cos you smoke. :D:D

Smoking in public (the work-place, restaurants, cinemas, theatres etc.) is antisocial because a small minority of smokers can make the whole area unpleasant for non-smokers - quite apart from the health risks attendant on passive smoking. I see no reason, however, why special smoking rooms or other separate-areas should not be provided so smokers can smoke without inconveniencing or harming others. If someone wants to smoke either in private, or in the company of others smokers, I regard it as their right to do so - the risks have been thoroughly publicised so their make their choice in the full knowledge of the possible consequences.
