Got to admit the way it shows how all the different stories come together is fantastic, and the bit with the young girl....i ain't no softy but that tugged at the heart strings.

is this the one where people get the horn from being in car crashes??

not that i would know anything about that sort of thing

Unbearable, isn't it? The suffering of strangers, the agony of friends. There is a secret song at the center of the world, and its sound is like razors through flesh.

Try reading the man who wrote the thing in the first place - the truly great (probably Britain's best living novelist, in my opinion) J.G. Ballard.

Try his "Cocaine Nights" (NOT a druggy affair, despite the title) and its sequel (memory briefly fails me), set on the Costa Relaxicas of the Med', for an insight into just where we, our society and our lives are going now. His follow-up, "Millennium People" (?) is pretty fine, too. JGB: a genius who lives quietly (physically, that is) in Shepperton, Middlesex, but LOTS of other places besides...

"What did you expect to see out of a Torquay hotel bedroom window? Sydney Opera House perhaps? The Hanging Gardens of Babylon? Herds of wildebeest sweeping majestically...?"

Basil Fawlty to the old bat, guest from hell, Mrs Richards.
