Timsbury AN Annual Grayling fish in

the lighter fuel is for me peacock-handwarmer ,but if needs must :o

they're my Polaroids ,amber for average light levels ,gray for bright sunshine /mid day and yellow for low light conditions B) just in case  theres even some oil in a small bottle in there too lube the reels if needed ,and tissues to whipe them clean with a bit of lighter fluid before re-oiling them if needed

but i've decided ,its going too be a cool ,overcast day with a bit of a nip in the air ,metcheck couldn't predict yesterdays weather ,today :D ,i just have every eventuality covered ,even down to my wet weather gear being correctly camouflaged to match the surroundings ..... ok its brown .brown hat , coat & trousers .might come in handy if i get browned off with the weather

Steve, you have burst my bubble vision I had of you...lol, A definate but of tackle tart showing through there now...Im gutted....lol

That's such a good idea! We could scatter a few stella cans around too. I can imagine the tweeded ones going utterly mental  They get angry enough at the mention of a downstream dry, or even - gasp - a nymph (you have to spit that particular word out), but as for a bivvy...! :D

I can see it now, fly rod set down on your rod pod and a booby fished static, hard on the bottom with an indicator for bite detection...

(Have a look at this - I first thought RPS was on a wind-up, but I ended up thinking he meant it!)

tackle tramp more like ,all three cost less than £5 ,the amber ones and yellow ones are actually driving glasses i use to avoid getting migranes ,they cost a whopping 99p each from carboots or upto £2 from e-bay ,the gray ones i brought for my nephew too use /spare from aldi £2.99 ,they useually reside in my fly bag ,too be honest 7 out of ten times i just use the pair of sunglasses i have in the car which are actually rose tinted  now i'm getting worried what with rather smart looking brand new spliced tipped rod ,brand new abu 706 and my brand new fred crouch true trotter pin ,perhaps i am becomming a tart ,probably still more of a pudding than a tart i think

my kennet (main river) ,my An pin (slow carrier) ,big red 1 ,(mainriver alternate) ,little red one ,(carrier alternate) ,50's 3 3/4" aerial (spare) ,speedia (spare) .no i think 6 is enough ,and i have my abu 507 ,abu 501 & new abu 706 as back-ups

anyone comming is welcome too borrow a reel if they want

well ,you've got too be prepaired aint yeh

You're missing an ABU 505 aren't you! :)

I'm buzzing with anticipation too, but limiting myself to 3 pins - Okuma Sheffield, Match Aerial and 3 3/4 Aerial and an Abu 505 though. On the rod front I'm bringing a float, specimen float, avon and a fly rod. Oh and fly reels - I'll need at least one fly reel.

What about bait? I've fished the Test before, but not Timsbury - I was going to bring along bread, corn, maggot and worms (lobs and brandlings). Anything else worth considering?

well bait wise i'll be bringing a small pot of red worms (bether than branlings) 1/2 pt red maggots and 1/2 pt yellow maggots ,corn ,and bread if i don't eat it all with me breakfast ,chicken soup in a cup with bread too dunk into it .i dont take too much as i rarely loose feed for grayling and sparingly for roach etc .

Yes Simon, that's correct.

As for bait, a pint of maggots and a loaf of bread is all I'm taking. I'm still undecided about the fly gear, as much as I'm trying to stay sane the roach fever is descending!

And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music

After a certain age, if you don't wake up aching in every joint, you are probably dead.

The weather is looking, erm, Timsburyish!

Does anyone have any idea what the river is looking like? I wouldn't be surprised to see it very high and coloured.
