I expect you're right about the fat content, the same thing happpens with luncheon meat sometimes. Several times I've tried to bait up a chub spot with bits of luncheon meat only to see them merrily float off downstream.

 

And to think some people EAT it

If you can convince Peperami to start making the cheesey one again i will kiss you. Now that was a great bait.

i recomend using red stick and the black stick peps as these leak out a lot of natural spice stored in the fatty deposites and also in the meat, and they have added oil in them..

I've caught on Pepperami too, but all too often end up eating more than I use as bait

I was surprised to see the pepperami I threw into the lake at the end of my last session float. I have tested them in the margins on a size 8 hair rig and never noticed before. Must be the fat content as suggested. Obviously that is not enough to pop up a large hook.

 

Caught my first ever fish on Pepperami last year:

 

 

First 20lb common, I was quite pleased!

Havent tried pepperami, but if the fish like it as much as me then it would get gobbled up straight away. I suppose the fat content would effect the bouyancy?

Do many people use it in the summer? I use the stuff normally just for winter fishing but i don't see why it wouldn't work all year round....

i have a hard enough time catching fish why would i buy a bait thats camo
