Pepperami sinks and it catches carp...even big ones...and sometimes lots of 'em

but keep it a secret between ourselves eh!

For some reason it doesn't work where I fish.

A few weeks back I spoke to two new members both fishing two rods. Both had a pepperami and a luncheon meat rod. All fish had fallen to luncheonmeat.

Different floats for different folks!

fry it to toughen it up? you might a well cut up your dockers and use that instead!pepperami doesnt float. Ive used it once or twice and never had much luck on the stuff so i eat it instead. use it straight out of the packet its tough enough. on a size 12 hair rig. barbless of course.

I know it's out of date... but.. yes it floats depending on size..

last year i always had 1 or 2 rigs with it. some peices float others don't. i tried to throw a few bits next to a island that i casted to, 3 out of 4 pieces floated, i then reeled in my rig and made it a kd rig... i caught a 12lb carp with in 15 of cast out, there is a pic somwhere.

but a kd rig with a size of shot depended on size and ammount, i also made a nice little bait type, crab boile with the bait cut into a ridged surface (was to make it look different from a boilie) with a pep on top the way i did thie was lay the pep on top of the crab boile side ways (long way) or i use 2 pep bits, i try to keep my bits at size 10-8 hook at about 3-5cm long.

but yeah very good bait, i know its out of date but i thought i would share my 2 cents.

as for frying.. err no... you never touched peperami, it is almost as tuff as a jurkey unles you peel the skin (i do this)

i think your just chating it if i be totally honest..

Thats exactly my experience on comparing pepperami with luncheonmeat i caught better with luncheon meat but hardly had any success on pepperami so never waste any time on it now.

Even better is polony and thats my luncheonmeat alternative bait now.

i really think you should bud, do a 24 hour session with one a peperami, it dose get bites, you just need to know if you piece sinks or floats..then you can adjust your rig :)

i promise you it's better then luncheon..

Tried it a couple of times side hooking it, missed a lot of bites so fished it with a bait band hair rig set up and that was quite succesful. I have thrown in bits to attract the fish and havent noticed it floated but ive only tried it once or twice so it might well do. That could be an advantage though, it would make a cracking surface bait! :D

As famous fisherman John Gierach once said "I used to like fishing because I thought it had some larger significance. Now I like fishing because it's the one thing I can think of that probably doesn't."

I was surprised to see the pepperami I threw into the lake at the end of my last session float. I have tested them in the margins on a size 8 hair rig and never noticed before. Must be the fat content as suggested. Obviously that is not enough to pop up a large hook.

Caught my first ever fish on Pepperami last year:

First 20lb common, I was quite pleased! :D
