Polarised glasses, are they worth it?

Hi, does anyone use polarised glasses for spotting the fish under water? I can never see them when trying to do some stalking. Do they work? Also, what are the cheapest? I imagine they all work as well as each other if it's just a type of lens right?

Thanks. Going Rib Valley tomorrow (ware) Hope what I have read on this forum will help me catch a monster.

Get yourself a pair!

Try here for non-prescription ones, or http://www.spex-4-less.com/ for prescription ones.

You can read a bit more about them here:

Different types give different advantages in different conditions.

I find that for most circumstances the 'gold' coloured ones are best for an all round pair.

Spotting underwater features, what is happening to your groundbait, how your lure is working, fish turning away from your hookbait etc is probably more important than seeing fish.

Do they work?

Yes, yes and yes. Without doubt an essential bit of kit if your roving or stalking. Less so I guess if your static but they'll still help you spot fish and decide where to pitch up.

Buy a pair immediately.

It's never a 'six', let's put it back

An essential bit of your fishing kit, even on the still waters for 'water craft', fish spotting or just for watching a float on a sunny day to take the glare off the water.

Don't leave home wihtout them I say B):)

I always leave a pair in the car. Not only are they handy for fishing, but they're also great when you get caught out on days when the sun is right in your face. I bet most motorists leave theirs at home once summer's over.

Like most others I think they are an essential piece of kit.

I fish with them on most of the time during daylight, in fact I sometimes forget that I have them on!

One of the main things they do for me is, prevent eye strain when watching a float. Even on 'dull' days the constant watching of a float against a reflective background can give me a headache if I don't wear them.

My most recent pair bought for Fathers day by my daughter, are different to all my others. The polarising bands that usually run horizontally across the lens, run diagonally on this pair. I only realised ths when I used them to test another pair by placing one behind the other and turning to see if they cut out the light completely. Has anyone else noticed this with some glasses, or have I got a 'duff' pair?

John.

Angling is more than just catching fish, if it wasn't it would just be called 'catching'......... John

You just can't be without polaroid glasses, they are essential without doubt.

I recently got a great pair for £8 from costco, yes I know you may think there cheap and nasty but I assure you there very well built and excellent, they also come with a hard case.

If your into rivers like me then I can't be without them. They open up a whole new world when looking into the water, all that nasty glare etc just goes and you can see clearly whats going on down below.
