And how do you go about paying for this Pursuit you call selfish angling?? Do you pay permits, pay licences or what? Where does this money of yours go?

Andy,

I think you're misinterpreting the term 'selfish' and also taking it as something derogatory.

The reason we actually go fishing is not to pay permits, clean up litter, etc. That's a by-product of our hobby and, yes, can be used to counter the arguments against our hobby.

We go fishing to satisfy our own personal desires i.e. for selfish reasons.

Well we may as well write to PETA and admit wholeheartedly that we do what we do because we don't actually give a crap whether fish feel pain or not.

Everything or haven't you been paying attention?? So far almost everyones' opinion that they go fishing for selfish reasons, knowing the fish probably feel pain.

That's what it's got to to with it. Try making the connection. It's not that difficult.

I have been paying attention Andy, and only two people have mentioned pain other than you.....

Myself and I didn't offer an opinion, I merely stated that whether they do or not is irrelevant to this thread, though for the record I'm pretty certain they do, the idea a creature can bleed and not feel it is ridiculous.

Dales, who ventured that he thought they probably did.

Why do you insist on assuming that people admitting to fishing for selfish reasons equates to people not caring whether fish feel pain? The two concepts can exist independently.

I'm aware of that. I fish with the thought they're none the wiser since my repeat captures over the years would testify greatly to that theory.I'm of the fish don't feel sh*t camp. Fear, perhaps depending on the species yes.

You're ignoring the main issue in my last post, for clarity, I'll repeat it....

'Why do you insist on assuming that people admitting to fishing for selfish reasons equates to people not caring whether fish feel pain?'

Catching fish for selfish reasons is self-explanatory. If one knows their quarry may or may not feel pain, yet continue to pursue their quarry, they must by default, neither care not here nor there that fish might feel pain. Is that clear enough?

So you can't fish for selfish reasons and think fish don't feel pain?

Can you really not see the massive hole in your argument and the massive assumption (similar to the massive assumption you made about my initial post) you're making about what people think?
