Hi there and welcome to Angler's Net.

There are several clubs in your area that don't cost the earth.

Bromley & District - http://www.bdaskent.co.uk/index.html or

Maidstone and District - http://www.maidstonevictory.co.uk/ or

Kingfisher Angling and Preservation - www.kapscoarse.co.uk or

Dartford and District - http://www.ddaps.co.uk/ or

Tonbridge & District AFPS - http://www.tonbridge-angling.co.uk/ or

Orpington and District AA - http://www.odaa.co.uk/ or

Holmesdale ACS - http://www.holmesdale.acs.btinternet.co.uk/.

They all have some good and some not so good waters and I think they all cost less than £100 pa membership but some may just drift over that when you add the one off joining fee. The nearest waters to you would be the Kingfisher and Maidstone club waters near Snodland.

Can't remember which club has which lakes, but the Pollard at Snodland has a big head of BIG fish :)

Ahh if you're looking for BIG fish then it's Tonbridge. There are some serious carp, tench and bream in their Barden lake. It used to be available on a day ticket (no night fishing) too. Then again Bromley's East Lake has produced a 40+ carp as has Kingfisher's Pollard. Then again there are some 30+ carp in the Medway on Maidstone's ticket.

Out of the list I posted earlier, the only waters I have not fished are Orpington's and Holmesdale's. Bromley is the only club ticket I still hold although it's been a couple of years since I fished them.

Which ever club you decide, though, you might have to wait but it costs nothing to do that. You must also expect to be asked to attend work parties. Some clubs insist on new members attending two in the first year of membership (but then you may not be asked for a few years after that). There may also be restrictions on other things like night fishing in your first year too. But if you want to be able to fish a whole host of different waters for between £50 to £90, then that's what you need to do. Alternatively, you could spend £25 everytime you fish for 24 hours on a commercial water. The choice is yours.
