I've caught plenty of scrawny ones that were obviously ill, but never anything that ugly! I think I'd have put it back, too.

If we always put the ugly ones back we'd all be single.

About 40 years ago when there were a lot of big cod caught off Chesil in trammels, there was a lot of talk about fish with large ulcers and a lot of thin ones that had swallowed polystyrene cups.

 

The night I caught one of 20lb, someone about 20 yrds away caught one that was 6 inches longer but only weighed 18.75lb. We pulled them in together.

It's quite obvious that the Cod has been out for a night on the 'sherbet' with Danniella Westbrook.

Yeah that looks like a Lamprey bite although I am certainly no expert!!

Hi, looks like hole in the head disease, common in tropical and cold water fish lving in poor water conditions, very nasty also spreads to their internal organs.
