I wonder if he ever got the problem fixed.
Maybe he cant find the hosts file?

In Windows XP and better it is in c:\windows\sytem32\drivers\etc\hosts.

 

When you try to open the file in Notepad you need to tell Notepad's file/open dialog to look for "all files" not just the default *.txt files.

The problem isn't what people don't know, it's what they know that just ain't so.
