Are you looking for club or day ticket waters? carp waters or general course fishing ?and do you drive ? I live in southend and can point you towards a few places within about 1/2 hours drive heading out towards Essex.

And I hope Elton doesn't mind me mentioning other sites, but you might find info more local to you at http://www.essex-fishing.co.uk/

Thanks for the reply - day ticket to begin with, I'd take a recommendation on Carp and general coarse fishing.

Since starting back i've caught mostly shoaling Bream and Carp (common and mirror)

I do drive, normally go with a mate, so two plus a car. I have fairly basic kit but the rod is nice (10ft).

Just off A12 and A127 so eary for em to commute into Essex proper.

Any recommendations?

Bridge lake at birds green might be worth a look

Puddledock farm - I've never fished it myself but have heard good things :)

My personal favourite in the area is the Warren, at Stanford le Hope, but thier website seems to be broken! it's on Wharf Road. Both the main and match lake will give you a good days sport float fishing maggots once the weather starts to warm up a little. Don't fish too light here, my son caught a 5lb tench on single maggot and a whip last summer!!

When they get it sorted out the website is at http://www.shellangling.com/

As far as clubs go, BDAC have a few waters over that side of Essex, with the windmill lakes complex being worth a look - they are another one I take my boy too.

I fished puddledock farm at upminster back in april for the first time and had some nice skimmers from the road lake. this is a confidence water for beginners and its not all carp carp carp. That being said there are carp and some bigger ones in a couple of the lakes. very much a commercial water but near you is a club that I have heard good things about.

Tom,

nice to see you finally made it here ;) I'd also recommend the various waters along the Lee Lee Valley Park Fishing There's a lot of very good fishing to be had hereabouts. We'll have to see if we can manage a day on the river before the end of the season.

Tight lines,
