The reality is that most of those folks who do carry a gun (not a very high percentage of rapists or of murderers other than the very rare professional) don't bother to put in time on the range to get at all good at using them.

Newt are you really suggesting that if more women carried guns, there would be less rapes? And that if women choose not to carry a gun it's their fault if they succumb to an attack?

How good do you need to be at the sort of close quarters we're talking about here?

You need to be good enough to know how to load it, clean it and fire it. No good for example having said gun if you can't (quickly) remove the safety.

Oh, sorry - I thought "put time in on the range" was referring to accuracy.
