Big lures - rod advice needed

Hi, I need some help/advice. I've recently started using bigger lures (up to 10" / 125g) and need a rod that can handle these - my current spinning rod hasn't got the power.

Problem is I can't find anything that matches what I want. Am I looking in the wrong place? These are the specs of what I'm after:

- 7' to 8' in length

- minimum 3 pieces (for travelling)

- cast lures up to 125g

I didn't think it would be so hard to find what I need but can't find anything at all. Please help.

the one that makes it difficult is the 3 piece bit

a six foot or six six 2 piece will be as compact as you will find im afraid

You said spinning rather than baitcasting so you're looking at a very limited choice (I know, I've been looking for the last four years) of rods.

From Shimano, you have the Kaibusu rods.

There's the deep blue rods from firefly angling that might do you.

The heaviest of the StCroix Tidemaster dods (officially rated to cast two ounces) will cast four ounces with ease but 6 (125g) is pushing it.

The TSTBS-703H rod from Tsunami is a good option but it's difficult to get one shipped outside the USA.

Failing that, take a look at the ABU conolon pro boat traveller, the Penn Powerstix Pro 20-30lb 4-Piece Travel Boat Rod and the Shimano Beastmaster AX STC Boat TBMAXBT240MH - although these last three might need re-ringing for fixed spool use.

IMO, these sorts of rods are better suited to GT's than pike though.

Species caught in 2020: Barbel. European Eel. Bleak. Perch. Pike.

Species caught in 2017: Siamese carp. Striped catfish. Rohu. Mekong catfish. Amazon red tail catfish. Arapaima. Black Minnow Shark. Perch. Chub. Brown Trout. Pike. Bream. Roach. Rudd. Bleak. Common Carp.

150gms is 5 1/4 ozs, 6ozs is 170gms if I remember right and 125 around 4?. But as quite a few of my bigger (and below 10" at that!) are 5ozs I would look more towards that as your upper range for a "Heavy" lure rod.

If you want it for spinning reels (or fixed spool if you prefer that name) rather than a bait caster (or multiplier if you etc etc!!) it will as said be even harder to find what you want. As suggested the more specialist rod builders like Lumby would be a good start but I would seriously consider changing to a multiplier for these bigger baits.

And thats my "non indicative opinion"!
