Badly scratched DVD

Evening guys.

I was wondering if there was a good AND cheap (if not free) dvd recovery software out there that you may know of?

A long story short ; my very good friend of over 24 years was buried today , he was married to his wife for 61 years and she is lost to say the least. I've had a rummage round my gear and found an old dvd with him on fishing with the rest of the gang with some funny moments in it. The problem is is that the disc is BADLY scratched. DVD DECRYPTER sets off all well and good but once it hits the bad sectors it fails poorly.

A quick google on the subject pops up with a couple of ideas but i was wondering if any of you knew of any good ones?

Any help at all would be grateful , MR M.

i dont think any software can deal with a badly scratched dvd as you're dvd reader just wont read. dvd repair kits work well though, i have one with 2 pads, one buffs the surface and another like a sander. mines was severly scratched it took about 5 runs in the repair kit to get my porno in tip top condition

take it in to one of these computer shops like "game" and "game station" if i remember correctly one of those stores were doing dvd scratch repairs for a fiver and they have better equipment than the ones you buy you're self

This http://www.isobuster.com/ may work. There is a paid for and a freeware version.

Cheers

Must have been urgent then

I'll find some paint to watch drying before I respond to the next one.

Thanks for all the help guys , i've had yet another funeral to go to so i'm pretty burned out at the moment.

I tried isobuster but i'm not too keen on paying for it. I managed to scrape some info out of the disc with dvddecrpter and i think she will be happy with what i have.

Life eh , full of too many memories.

try some whitening tooth paste. apply a little then buff from the center of the dvd to the outer edge in a straight line all the way around and see if the recovery software can get any more

I have taken damaged discs to the local video library and asked them to buff them while I look for discs to hire. They are generally happy to do that as a favour.
