Wingham Fish-In

When it warms up a bit the float fishing can be very good.Roach of 10-14ozs and Perch up to just over the pound are the mainstay but Ive had a few Rudd but nothing big.

I believe someone was fishing for roach/rudd last year. I think they were fishing up in the water and spraying magots as you suggest and they did catch, I think I was told they were mainly around 8oz.... although I might be wrong about the weights.

I thought this sort of info may help people with deciding what to bring and what to leave behind.

As other have said they are there! Later in the year you can catch rudd roach and perch all day long until you get bored. As budgie says at the end of last year some very nice roach a little under a pound 'appeared' in lots of swims. Steve will tell you there are some huge rudd, I have seen some massive ones rolling at dusk, but I was too busy thinking about breamto fish for them!

Wow! I can't believe it! I was convinced that it would be oversubscribed and I would have to wait another 12 months for a chance to fish Wingham again. Thank you so much Steve for your generosity once again.

Now, time to start planning and getting the gear ready. Unfortunately this type of fishing is not something we get the chance to do here in Worcestershire so I have been doing alot of reading up on older posts and the interweb. Trouble is after reading about so many different tactics and baiting approaches I think I'm just going to bring everything and decide once I see my peg.

One question I do have though is about hooklength material. I'm looking for some flourocarbon in 6 - 8lb and was wondering if anybody had any preferences??

Thanks and I look forward to seeing you all at the Fish-in.

I've just sent out Paypal invoices for bait and BBQs to those non-syndicate members I haven't received cheques from yet. These include the small PayPal charge.

If you've already sent a cheque many thanks. If I haven't received it in the post by Saturday I'll let you know and ask you to pay by PayPal.

Despite cold days (8 to 10C) and frosty nights both lakes at Wingham are fishing well.

The most sought after fish in the Carp Lake isn't the biggest but a gorgous heavily-plated mirror (see the website). It had been caught only twice in 5 years, but came out today at 41-12.

A syndicate member who posts here had 8 tench today in his first 6 hours up to 8-11.

The tench are still lean but are just beginning to put weight on after the hard winter and cold spring. The weather is at last forecast to warm up after weeks of cold NE winds, so hopefully the fish will have put more weight on and will be feeding hard come the Fish-In the weekend after next.

Hi Steve,

I haven't received any paypal invoices as far as I can tell. My bait/food order was sent in a seperate email to you so it might have got lost somewhere, is it still ok to order BBQ + Bait? If so I've sent you a PM with the details.

Cheers

Yes I have a definite preference. It is a fly leader called Grand Max Soft Plus. If you google you may get some in time. Sinks like a stone and very thin and supple

No problem. I've cancelled the PayPal request to your original e-mail address and resent it to the address you gave me in your PM.
