As with all fishing the size of the hook should be determined by the size of the bait.

 

Sizes 10 to 4 are the most common sizes used for carp in the UK whilst many go to a size 2 for abroad.

 

Different patterns of hooks are used for different presentations whilst the guage of the wire or strength of the hook is chosen due to the circumstance it is to be used in.

 

For your fishing Rustam just choose a strong reliable hook and dont get to worried about fancy presentations.

I realise you haven't fished for Mahaseer but would a Mustad Big Gun Catfish Blk. Nickel in size 6 be appropriate?

As I said in my initial post I have fished for Mahseer twice over the years with limited sucses I am by no means that knowledgeable about them though.The hooks we used were Marutu Eagle Waves in sizes 1/0 to 3/0 and some heavy duty Owner hooks the model of which I cant remember but they were quite small size 1/0 possibly.The lures had standard trebles on them.
