I no naff all about Scottish Barbel and Chub, but a quick Google tells me there are Barbel in the Lower Clyde, this means it is probably tidal, but that is not a problem for coarse fish, but you do have to pick your times for fishing.

GOOGLE there is loads of good info out there.
