As you will be fishing the Ribble try a shakespeare Mach 1 travel match a useful 13 footer that is quite capable of stopping a barbel I know because I use one from time to time and being a five piece you can keep it in the car boot away from the prying eyes of scrotes!

I did not get on with the Suveran travel match rod had several flat or dead spots on it, something I have often found on vary length fishing rods

Hello all,

Can anyone recommend a good 13 foot rod for trotting on the river? There's so damn many It's impossible to sort between them. Does anybody have any experience of using a rod that they really enjoyed and found to be light and crisp in action? I should also mention that it needs to be a reasonable price.

Thanks

Rik

Most carp waggler rods will be OK if it has a line rating of upto 6lb. Great for chub, a bit light for barbel and a bit heavy for roach and dace, but ive had fun catching them all on one.

I don't know this rod, but this kind of thing should be Ok.

I used a silstar taktiq for trotting on the ribble, which i would guess is the same rod as a Eurostar taktic and had some great times with it.

Great rods Ian and if you can spare the dosh i would say get one, but if your on a budget watercraft and rivercraft will always come first for me. Nice gear don't always catch you more fish. :)
