Oh I dunno Mike, I used to work in a Bank and we had a cashier that was allergic to nickel, she had to wear rubber gloves for most of the day

 

 

I bet she just had a rubber fetish and just needed an excuse to wear them to work

 

 

I think I was possibly classed as a bankside nutter last year when I decided to go up to my club lake after work for an impromptu fishing session.

 

No gear with me, (I tend not to carry it to work!) so I used the tackle that we leave in the cabin for members to use.

 

I ended up sitting on a white plastic picnic chair in full office clothes with my handbag stuffed underneath, just as a new member was being shown around...

 

I well remember the look he gave me....!!!!

Maybe club work parties should wear something akin to a NBC suit (Nuclear, Bacteriological and Chemical) then we could have thousands of reports of Aliens having landed...hehehe

Mr Sweary. Pike fishing the Severn in the middle of winter with a mate and a chap turns up and tells us the story of him shooting a pike and eating it with more swearing that I would have ever believed it possible to fit into a narative. Tried to do an impersonation a few times but never managed to come close.

 

Mr 5lb perch. I had a 5lb perch out of that swim three weeks ago. Was it weighed ? No, but it was 5lb easy.

 

Mr dog owner. Fido runs around like a mad thing eating bait, sticking it's nose everywhere and jumping in the lake while some weak chinned acountant says "try telling him to sit, he often responds to other people better than he does to me".

 

Psycho woman. Middle of winter, woman jumps fully clothed into the lake without so much as a good morning. Gets fished out and carted off under blues and twos - still, it solved the problem of landing fish through the ring of marginal ice.

 

Mr interesting groundbait. What's in youy mix ? "Pickalilli and curry powder, they like a good stink, it attracts them".

 

Mr pike whistle. They really do seem to think that someone putting a lure in the water within 50m of where they're fishing will turn the pike population in ravening killers and have their carefully baited silver fish running for cover.

 

Me. I've done so many stupid things fishing it's a wonder I'm still here.

I once caught a 14lb mirror carp while fishing on the canal,a woman walking past while it was on the unhooking mat stopped dead and said "good god look at that!,did u catch that in here?"my mate uttered under his breath "no we caught it down the river and carried it all the way up here to take a picture"luckily she didn't hear him.

I do have a fantastic experience from a ''Bankside Nutter'' also known as my Wife!

 

When we first got together (I was 15, she was 14) I was out night fishing the river with a mate. When all of a sudden my lovely other half turned up to give me some company. In her defence she had never fished in her life at this point!

 

Just as she turned up my feeder rod got a nice curve in it and what had I caught?? A large slippery Eel (Oh Joy!)

 

I promptly grabbed the towel and proceeded to unhook this Eel when my other half said in a voice that echo'd through the silence of the river bank...

 

''Why are you using a towel to hold it? Is it an electric eel?''

I sometimes get asked why I spend all that time catching fish only to put them back. I still haven't thought up a quick response, except perhaps that I think the fish enjoy being caught
