I agree however if you have fished for a long time the size tell yer is massive compared to the old lead shot sizes.

Got a bit of a shock when I came back to coarse fishing after 20yrs :D

The BB looks like AAA

There are some brands of replacement shot that's not much bigger than lead. I must addmit to liking genuine lead shot the most....don't use it though as it's illegal ;):D

Thanks for all the replies.

Yes, like others, I get through quite alot link ledgering, I prefer using link ledgers as you can adjust them, and then of course, you invariably drop a pack in the grass at the bankside from time to time. Typically my tackleshop trips involve buying shot, hooks and maybe line, thats about it usually, not that I have any against tackleshops, its just I tend to use worm alot lately, and other natural or free baits, so buying in bulk would save time.

Ive had a scout on ebay, seems to be alot of what you get on the shelf anyway, nothing different.

I like the modelling clay idea, thats nice and heavy. I guess, living in a clay rich area, I could just take a shovellful from the ground.

Someone should make a realtree version of modelling clay, sell it to the camoflague carping brigade, you would make a fortune!

cheers

dave

I can't remember the rush bbamboo to be honest. I do know you can still buy lead shot if you want, I accidently bought some recently, I'll have to throw them in the bin ;):D

Got plenty of lead including some split shot that's twice the size of an SSG that I got in Australia. I only use it abroad or in saltwater though. Swans with lead poisoning as a result of lead that was lost 30 years ago and uncovered by floods are bad enough for angling as it is without me (or anyone else) using the stuff and getting caught or anouncing to the world (including organisations like PeTA) via the internet that the law is still being ignorred.
