Anti angling

Just asked a e-mail contact what is hobbies are after telling him mine.........see below....for his reply.

"My other hobbies include watching tv reading and playing board games. How can you be so cruel to those poor fish?

I mean how would you like some person to dangle your meals on a sharp hook. Then pull you out of your natural environment and if your lucky put you in a net.

Alan"

My reply...................

"Oh dear your not one of those anti angling type persons are you?

If we dident have anglers most of the rivers would be poluted and there would be far fewer ponds which also provide a habitat for birds and insects e.t.c

Angling clubs look after rivers and ponds and sue companys that polute them.

Also the fish i catch and release would not exsist if it were not for the pond or lake being created for fishing in the first place."

As anyone any more i can add before i send the e-mail later tomorrow.

Ask him whether he eats meat, wears leather shoes, swats flies or reads newspapers that are the cause of millions of trees being killed? Ask whether he eats bread, an activity that causes millions of acres of wheat being killed? Does he drive on roads that have eroded millions of miles of country side? Does he live in a house that has taken up a green-field site? Does he watch television, an industry that causes millions of tons of fossil fuels to be used, with their attendant greenhouse gasses, or worse still, consumes atomic power. Does he wear cloths, the cloth of which denudes poor little woolly sheep, or cloths that are man-made, thus supporting a polluting chemical industry. Does his pet dog or cat eat tinned food, tinned dead animals? Where do you want to end it? ALL human activities have an impact on this planet. Angling is a great deal less damaging than the majority of these activities. Oh, fish are not animals.

People are stupid sometimes, they believe what they read or hear in the media and whilst ever groups like PETA are around then you will get this sort of rubbish. It would help if the RSPCA or RSPB were on our side but seems not so, look at the black plague, it seems that your friend is misinformed and needs re-educating...why not offer to take them out for a day and show them what fishing can do for you

I would rather thump the sarcastic pompous norrow minded moron.

I just got this reply................

"Yes you bit nicely. Now you know what those poor fish feel like. Haha. Talking about pollution I have been led to believe that some anglers cause quite a bit with discarded tackle and lead weights. I know a lot of swans suffer. I am sure you are not one of these irresponsible anglers though."

Its probably best just to ignore this pillock.

I totally agree Chester, especially with Bread sauce.

Hate swans, they always mistake me for the Angler that fed em last time!

This poses the question at the 50th jubilee.

If Swans are Crown protected and only for the Royal table, How many swans has Liz eaten in the last 50 years?

Not enough IMHO as she can have the ones near me, but I just wondered!

Cheers

I can remember taking the kids for a ride on one at Alton Towers, so I suppose someone found a use for them, as I remember there was a whole squadron of the things and they were all well trained, never hissed once, and stopped when we wanted to get off.
