what time we setting off chris? thats if its still ok to jump in with you?
Yes that's fine Matt. Last time I picked up Steve at 6:00am so we'll aim to do that again, PM me your address & mobile number and we'll take it from there. I'll be taking the cooking gear, tea bags, milk, sausages, baps etc so you might want to bring bacon and another bottle of water for the kettle.

It's never a 'six', let's put it back

I think we have to off the river 'at dusk', so interpret that as you will!

Thanks Andrew.

For the benefit of anybody that wants one, I will have some signed copies of "Angling Vagabond" in the car (mine's the silver Volvo 70AWD) at £15 each. Will be at the nineteenth hole when we finish, and Norma will be with me to act as interpreter (I get deafer each successive fish-in  )

Tight lines everyone

Looking forward to Saturday now :) Have the rest of the week off work to get out before the end of the season and get some fishing in, just a shame the Bristol Avon is not in perfect fettle!

I fished the Itchen 3 weekends back, just after the very heavy rain the river was high and coloured, but still had a good days fshing. Not many Grayling caught due to the conditions, but lots of other fish and a few small Grayling.

Conditions should be much better on Saturday, so looking forard to a good days fishing and meeting some new faces.

See you all on Saturday

Any roach Simon? I'm still clinging on to the dream...!

I'm pretty much decided that I'm only taking trotting gear now. I think if I take a tip rod I will either be too tempted to pitch up somewhere and waste time fishing for the mythical roach, or carry it around all day and not use it. A day twirling the pin on the Itchen...doesn't get much better :) I'm looking forward to trying out the power pro braid too, and seeing if that helps keep grayling on the hook, as some have suggested. I always seem to lose quite a few as they twist and turn in the current.

I also might not take any maggots this year - brave or stupid?

If you find me in the morning I will point out the swims where the roach were caught, as we hired the whole venue and I was fishing with 19 other friends. Some decent roach were had up to 1lb 12ozs.

I did not have any Roach but managed a 12lb 5oz mirror carp, which put up quite a scrap. Oh and a 6lb bream and lots of trout and small Grayling.

Speak to you on saturday :)

PS, No maggots sounds stupid to me!!!

Corn and bread, I'm not sure I'll be able to get maggots before Saturday now my local shop has closed down (use them or lose them folks).
