I can bring some if you want?

That's good of you Steve - yes please. Just a pint of half reds and half whites would be great. Payment can be in cash, cheque, bank transfer or promising not to knock any big Farmoor trout off the hook in a few weeks' time :D

If you find me in the morning I will point out the swims where the roach were caught, as we hired the whole venue and I was fishing with 19 other friends. Some decent roach were had up to 1lb 12ozs.

I did not have any Roach but managed a 12lb 5oz mirror carp, which put up quite a scrap. Oh and a 6lb bream and lots of trout and small Grayling.

Speak to you on saturday :)

PS, No maggots sounds stupid to me!!!

Wow, sounds like some nice fish were caught! I had heard that there were a few Carp in there but only heard a few stories of them actually being caught (more often seen swimming around). Did you catch it trotting? Must have put up a good fight in the fast current! N

The charm of fishing is that it is the pursuit of what is elusive but attainable, a perpetual series of occasions for hope. ~John Buchan

Fundamentally fishing is a philosophy. A philosophy of earth, and growth, and quiet places. In it there is a rule of life, a recognition of permanences. It makes you notice the little things of nature, wherever you may be. ~Bernard Venables

Had it on the ledger whilst quiver tipping for roach with bread, so not by design I'm afraid!!! The fish had little lice on it so must have been laying up in the slack I was fishing when I chucked my feeder in right on top of his head!

Last year I manged 2 bream both over 7lbs, the Itchen always has a surprise for me everytime I fish there, hopefully Saturday will be no different :)

Does any one know the rules on hooks, Barbed, Barbless, Micro-Barbed or anglers preference?

Anglers preference. Fish preference is for no hook :D

It's never a 'six', let's put it back

That bounder Simon has gone and got me all excited about chalk stream roach again, so the tip rod and bread will be coming after all. I promise to try not to use it until the very last minute though

I'm going to target the roach as well, so you won't be alone in the hunt for red finned leviathans.

is this filmed on the itchin ?..... a little something too wet your appetites ,i wouldn't go along with his ideas on line comming off the top ,or how he hold the weight ,or his poor choice of centrepin (first one) but his casting is sound enough . can we fish these swims B)

wally casting video

(ignor the ad at the beginning)

So that's what it looks like with normal banks and clear water. I didn't even know you could fish downstream of the Mill - I thought it had no banks at all!
