Gone Fishin 0
Simon, he didn't have scales! BTW Gone Fishin, that's a mirror not a leather (it has scales along its back). could've sworn this was a leather. Anyone else? Yibbida Yibbida Folks
dant 5
could've sworn this was a leather. Anyone else? Hello GoneFishin.. My guess is somewhere around 13lb's or so. A leather has no scales whatsoever, if you look towards the ridge of the back there's a line of plated scales, that would make it a Mirror Carp. They're all the same fish one way or another - it's a Carp, but slightly different strains of. dant's notebook 2008

Peter M 2
BTW that is a leather carp, leathers still have a few large scales in a single line along the "spine" of the fish. with no other visible scales on its body it can be considered a leather. take a look at my blog http://chubcatcher.blogspot.co.uk/
BoldBear 194
BTW that is a leather carp, leathers still have a few large scales in a single line along the "spine" of the fish. with no other visible scales on its body it can be considered a leather. I thought that was a line carp which had a single line of scales below the dorsal and if it did then it isn't a true leather but it isn't really important for fish of this size. I cant even see the photo at work as photobucket photos are not visible on our work PCs. Gone Fishin 0
Caught a nice common carp off the top again, using dog biscuits. This time I had some scales and the fish weighed in at 15Ibs. With this in mind, I would say the leather was a heavier fish and would now estimate the fish was in the high teens and possibly a twenty. I don't think the pictures do the fish justice and that is why alot of people underestimated the size of the fish. Yibbida Yibbida Folks
