But beware, you might then be hooked as many Forum members have before you!

Yeaph, I can vouch for that Steve :D Not just for the fishing but for the atmosphere of the venue and also to meet with the Members of AN and put faces to names etc. I've been lucky enough to attend for the last three fish inns at Wingham and hope to be there again next year if there's enough places available.

Peggy's BBQ Feast mmmmmmmmmmmmmm!

Even ignoring the wonderful setting, great fishing and good company Peggy's BBQ is a big enough draw in it's own right.

Stephen

I was just re-reading Rich's catch report from 2007 - my god he fished well. Simply amazing, I'm so glad I was there to witness it!

And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music

Agreed, Andrew.

We're lucky that we've got a number of really excellent anglers on this Forum, and Richard and you are typical of the younger ones amongst them.

I'd bet on one of you, Alex or Ken being the captor of the next UK record bream. However it could be any of the members such is the depth of talent in the syndicate.

Or of course it could be a guest on one of the Forum Fish-Ins....... :)

I don't know about that, but that was the finest display of fishing I've ever seen - the fact he'd never seen the lake before makes it even more impressive!

It's nice to catch big fish, even nicer to share a friend's red letter day :)

So don't worry if you've never fished Wingham before or never even fished a similar water before - you might surprise yourself!

(PS Ken for the record bream I think - I would say Alex but he's got all distracted by those funny pike-perch thingies! To be honest, I think a fish-in guest has as much chance as anyone. When there are baits in the water...)

Yes the Ginger Ninja fished a blinder on that session didnt he.

The trouble with a session like that is it kind of scuppers the rest of your season - I fishied with Rich quite a bit for the rest of that season, and he seemed to just wander about with a happy, glazed look on his face, occasionally having a little cast here and there :D

It's a shame you can't put more time in for the bream Budgie, I'd have you up there with the Alexes and Kens...

I think I've had enough of this winter now, I think I'm ready for May, lovely warm days, birdsong and tench bubbles :)

I'd agree about Budgie. He's a brilliant angler and it's only his poor health holding him back. It's not just the lack of trips but also that he's often not at his best when he does get fishing.

As for the birdsong I know what you mean. However the birdsong at Wingham in winter can be deafening. I particularly love the whistling wigeon during the day, but in the evening 100s of greylag geese usually mean it's impossible to me to order my dinner! :o
