err we used to fish from inflatable boats and smoking and plastic dont mix nor anything pointy either.

probably did an olympic record dashing back to the shore when i pierced it with a hook ,not very boatlike when i washed ashore directly underneath bognors boating club

but probably amusing to the members

I have a friend that uses an inflatable yak, he bought it at the boat show at Excel, they told him you could fish safely from it , he's had it a couple of years now and todate he's had no problems with it, but he's only used it around the creeks of Essex chasing mullet, main reason he bought it was so he could drag it about from creek to creek , he has had a few sorties around the local canal , one of the main problems with it on the canal , is windage, any sort of breeze and it tracks in the water, I also have to point out he mainly uses it , to get himself to his desired spot , then fishes from shore or mud bank.

Personally I would'nt bother with them for fishing, they are severly limited when it comes to the sea , and in my opinion downright dangerous in any sort of open water, you might do better with a float tube.

my advise would be not to bother.two of my mates came out fishing with me on their inflatable.what a nightmare.they couldnt anchor up so they tied off on mine, and i had to tow them back about a mile against the tide.oh and they were going around in circles most of the time.had some nice smoothhound though.

Apart from hook and anchor issues - the wind is also an issue as it will act as a sail - unable to paddle into wind.

  • 2 weeks later...
Our lass saw one in Lidle and asked if I was getting one. I pointed out it wasnt a good idea to use a pointed hook in anything inflatable and that I would likely be drowned at sea. To which she replied "Ill buy you one".

and puncture very easily ...
