Quick intro and repair question.

Dave - the ward looks quite homely, the rubber walls must be easy to keep clean :)

Gray - the chat round here looks sure to entertain. Even moreso after the 16th no doubt.

Newt - starting to regret the north/south thing already! Not a good way to announce myself, start a war first day :)

As for the name, it was Slider when I started my online activities in '94. It is from the T.Rex album 'The Slider' from '72. It was soon obvious there were many more around so I changed the spelling slightly.

Hi there Slyder welcome.

I got a "3.5 mtr middy carp reach take apart handle" I got the top section stuck and broke the !!!!! thing trying to get it orf. It cost me £30 so I just had to have go at a repair. I plugged it with a piece of bean cane to the same diameter used epoxy adhesive to glue it and it works swell. Ive used it on a screw in ferral before aswell no trouble still got them and use both.

Nugg - I can fully understand the repair attempt being in ratio to the cost of the item. My pole didn't cost too much so I will go down the replacement route. Glad your repair was ok though, I would not have the patience for that kind of surgery. :)

hi slyder , its me the person your mother warned you about ,ditch that mitchel match ,get a modern reel ,i bought a match in the early seventies (still got it) all sorts of trouble with that nasty bailarm getting line round it, i always try to repair before buying even things that are probably less than the cost of the materials to fix it ,itl give you a sense of satisfaction when you use it :) or when you throw it over the hedge :P

Believe NOTHING anyones says or writes unless you witness it yourself and even then your eyes can deceive you

None of this "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" crap it just means i have at least two enemies!

There is only one opinion i listen to ,its mine and its ALWAYS right even when its wrong

hey chesters :) The repair thing has always escaped me. I seem to manage infinite patience for fishing but anything involving tools/glue etc has me turning purple and launching it after 2 minutes flat

I do have huge respect tho' for folks who repair rods, make floats, tie flies etc, and do envy them slightly. I imagine the sense of achievement when catching that dreamt of fish is moved to a whole new level when using your 'own' tackle.

If it aint broke don't fix it, if it is broke, buy another, it will work out cheaper in the long run.

Also, watch this site carefully as some will try to lead you from the chosen path, feel the force my friend and be strong
