Probably a silly question..but anyhow..!!

I've had one of the above rods for two years now and very happy I am with it too. However, I haven't a clue what the function of one of the supplied quivertips is for.

The rod comes with three 'standard' push in white glass fibre tips, fair enough, but it also comes with one carbon one of the same colour as the blank and I'm not sure what its purpose is. Can anyone help? I haven't even experimented with it so I can't comment but have been told it's for strong currents...??? if this is what it is intended for I would question the lack of colour contrast for using it in low light conditions.

Cheers, T61.

Hi Tinca, the stradic specialist was the same. One review of that rod that I read said the tip you are on about was for floodwater fishing.

Hello Tinca,

I've got a couple of these rods that I use for my summer barbel fishing, and superb rods they are too! I take it that the tip you are refering to is the 3oz quiver tip.

To answer your question, the carbon tip I use when upstream legering. The reason for this is that the carbon tip is springier (is that a word?) than the glass tips, and thus gives a far better indication on drop back bites. When I say better I really mean faster and shows the bites that much quicker.

You could always paint the tip white if the colour is a problem. Hope thats of some use.

Cheers,

Ian
