old mitchell reel

Sorry ben88, that sounded a bit harsh, it weasn't meant to be. I used to have a red ABU Garcia closed face years ago, a atrange reel and the "closed face" bit used to fall off, normally about 1 second after hooking a fish. The best place for bits to fix your old reel is probably ebay, especially the American ebay.

the problem with it is the line is caught up around something inside and you can no longer unscrew the spool or can you get to the end of the line.

Beats me mate, sounds like you will need to cut the line off with a stanley knife or summat.

the 306 was a bigger 300 the 386 was a small sea reel the 486 a large one,the spools dont unscrew they have a button push that and off it pops ,unscrewing the drag gets you a pile of bits

abu 500 series parts are easily found and the reel well worth repairing i still use one i bought in the 70`s

And if you have an ABU 505 or 506 then you have a cracker of a reel for roach fishing.
