Some nostalgia for you

It’s great that Alex is such a good angler, as soon as it’s an Olympic sport we’ll give him a call to boost our gold medal tally (unless Perch are in the Olympic pool of course). I’ve never met him so have no idea what he’s like, his angling ability alone is irrelevant to me as it is with any of the ‘stars’.

Oh and for the record, I’m with Tigger, for the vast majority of us luck plays a much bigger part than we would want to admit.

Could we start the luck/skill debate on another thread please, this started as a gentle reminisce.

Right on all counts, lets get the thread back on Rustys subject :)

I wonder if this same discussion is had in other sports...whether people in motoring circles think winning races is down to luck or in golf, winning rounds is down to luck. I doubt it somehow. I do find it strange that in fishing, where we have the ability to control so much of it all, so much faith is placed on luck.

On the Thames I could have easily gone home thinking that either there were no fish about or that they just weren't feeding, if I hadn't bumped into the other angler.

Alex was just an example of someone who is 'always lucky'. There are plenty more like him...Chris Plumb springs to mind ;)

Sorry for going off topic, it was either Tigger's fault, or bad luck :D

Too many variables to take into consideration. All you can do is account for as many as you can, consciously or otherwise.

As I said before, I don't watch much television so the photographs where a breath of fresh air and an enlightenment for me, so much so that I am trying to get a copy on DVD. I have only ever watched a very few dvd's on angling and just a few television programs I guess I may have been missing out quite a bit.

However I want to thank Rusty for putting up the pictures they were wonderful, I guess as I have fished for rather a long while I have often seen changes at various venues and sadly very few have been for the better.

Although I have a new theory concerning Otters there are only a couple of them and they are Elton's trained pets you never see Elton holding their leads as he is tucked away so very camoed up...hehehe

Can anyone else see something in the water to the bottom right of Rusty's first picture?

Yes, In your photo better than his photo...you are not imagining it and it looks like a very large one, very clear. Could it be Elton in scuba having a game...hehehe

There again maybe a piece of rotting log...???

A seal...???

The biggest Otter I have ever seen...???

A small Carp...???

A big Pike...???

A very nice bit of photoshop...???

Seriously I have just put His photo through my wife's photo enhancer...Who own the fishing rights? and how far is it from where I live? Because if what it looks like is right I cannot believe it...best to go there myself and check it out.
