Bait Boat

there is a thread here about a bait boat in the carp thread.

if anyone remembers it i finally got around to trying out my nephews little rc amphibious toy with retractable wheels. and im pleased to say it works amazingly.

i made a few holes in a maggot tub tied it to the wheels with braid and drove it out 40ft before i ran out of water and dumped my cargo and returned to fill it up again.

i got about 10 trips with it before it began to slow down, 20 trips if i pull it back in with some line attached to my reel to save on the batteries

boat - £40

tub - £1.00

the look on other anglers faces - pricless :D

ill get a short clip of it up in a day or 2 in action

thanks for that elton much appreciated, regarding the the comment on boiles, it can be used very widely. the place i was using it produces tons of fish but none that are very big and getting bait droped over their is next to impossible unless its in some sort of ground bait but i just prefer to loose feed so the boat worked perfectly

im now going to figure out a better way of attaching bait tubs to it and put them on each wheel. perfect for dropping pike baits aswel.

one thing i have noticed, it gets full of water in the little spaces for the wheels to retract in to so its recomended to tip it out or the back end goes under a little effecting the speed but it will not sink it

Andy, thats brilliant

I've been thinking about getting something like THIS for a while now and then cutting away the top untill i could araldite/glue a tupperware type box on the top with the "back end" cut away.

I was thinking if you left the bail arm off you could send the boat out with a PVA bag loaded with bait and your baited hook then when it gets to the spot you want it just lock the bail arm over and it would pull the lot off the back of the boat, you could do the same thing with a dead bait ect for piking (just right for getting under the overhanging branches  )

Of course if you've got a smart cast or similar FF then you could always use a bit of braid ect to tie it to the boat for a bit of distance fish finding as well

OR!!!! you could get on maplins and order one of THESE.......................Been trying to persuade Dian it would be great for the garden pond  but she's having none of it :wallbash:

My only worry has been the wieght and sealing the area where the box/boat meet.
