I did seem to read that global warming could lead to the gulf stream slowing or stopping, and that GB would then suffer some severe cold winters??

if the gulf stream stopped we would just have the weather we should have based on our position on earth ,the gulf stream gives us a 5 degree warmer clime than we should have .

the gulf stream meanders about giving us variations in weather so we wont really know what weather we would constantly get until it stops.

would it matter if we were 5 degrees cooler at least some bloody fields could be wrested back from useless grape vines

the gulf stream has moved or stopped just as many times as the north pole has changed in the past ,the gulf streams ,el nino are factors in the weather and both change it naturally whatever we do wont change that.

el nino (going by current knowledge) has wiped out vast populations of man and beast in the past it wont stop doing that ,we had just better get used to colder warmer weather like those that live in warmer or cooler weather than we do.

man happily lives from below freezing to above 40 degrees a 5 degree loss in our overall temperature shouldnt bother us too much ,inconvenience us definitely but not the end of the world

The same weather system that bought us the last load of ice and snow also bought record high temperatures for the time of year to Greenland as the 'warm' Atlantic air meant for us was diverted to the north west of us whilst on this side of the system we had cold air dragged down from the Arctic.

Yeah one of the first predictions related to "Global Warming" would be that places like the UK would have colder winters. Whether or not the changes are due to natural climate change or so called global warming, but I do know that in the 33 years I have lived in Australia the record high temperature during the course of a summer has increased by over 4c. Last summer when I was holidaying about 500klm north of here, we had a day at 49c. Last winter was the driest on record and I believe that November was the hottest November on record. Something defintely seems to be happening, there is no doubt of that.

I agree with the gulf stream syndrone but theres also another thing ive read about saying that our entire galaxy has seasons and earths history shows the natural temperature rises and falls over 100s of years , maybe thats why we have global warming and ice ages and its got nothing to do with mans effect at all
