good blog. wish i'd seen it ages ago! interesting to see your rod restoration too. i'm in the middle of mine. i chose to do it in pearsalls to get that semi-transparent finish ( pearsalls green with purple tippings).

 

i had read some warnings about having aspirin ready and thought it was a joke, but it actually gives me a physical headache!

I know exactly what you mean about the aspirin :thumbs: Bbamboo who frequents this forum is a professional split cane rod maker and we fish together and his advice was 1st class I have to say, I had done a rod previous to that one but never achieved the finish I would have liked with the whippings so I really concentrated on this one and got them spot on, and its a pleasure to fish with, I havent fished with carbon since restoring it and another which I havent put on the blog, similar type but only a 10ft rod.

 

Good luck with your rod its all worth it in the end. :thumbs:
