HI ALL

I HAVE HEARD THAT VITALIN IS A CHEAP WAY OF BOOSTING YOUR GROUND BAIT MIXES. I HAVE LOOKED AT THEIR WEBSITE WHICH OFFERS VARIOUS ONES FOR SALE. CAN ANYONE RECOMMEND FROM EXPERIENCE WHICH ONE IS BEST ? I AM DOING METHOD FEEDER FISHING AND THE SPECIALISED GROUND BAIT MIXES ARE EXPENSIVE FOR WHAT YOU GET SO NEED A CHEAP ADDITIVE THAT WORKS. ANY IDEAS PLEASE....

THANKS

Original Ali, I put mine through a blender first to break up the flakes. I really only use it to stiffen up my mix, don't add to much at a time as it makes the mix quite sticky.

Hi all

I have heard that Vitalin is a cheap way of boosting your ground bait mixes. I have looked at their website which offers various ones for sale. Can anyone recommend from experience which one is best? I am doing method feeder fishing and the specialised ground bait mixes are expensive for what you get, so need a cheap additive that works. Any ideas please....

Thanks

The one in the yellow bag is the only one that is really of any use. It is also the cheapest. For a really stiff method mix, you use it just as it comes and pour boiling water on it before you set off. If you put something heavy on top of it to weight it down while you are travelling, by the time you get there it will plummet to the bottom of a tidal river intact... if that's the sort of consistency you are looking for.

As above I use the original, put through a blender. I then add a little crushed hemp and molasses and use it as a method mix. I works as well for me as any of the commercial mixes at a fraction of the cost

Let's agree to respect each others views, no matter how wrong yours may be.

Thanks for all the replies with a unanimous vote for the Original. I have noticed Tesco and Asda don't sell it, can anyone assist with a retailer that does please ?

Thanks

Your best bet is the local pet shop or if you are going to buy big then the nearest animal feed supplier to you.

Fishing seems to be my favorite form of loafing.

What do you think if the float does not dip, try again I think.

Most branches of Morrisons sell it, but many seem only to sell it in the smaller bags these days.

I agree with the above, Vitalin Original is a killer groundbait. I find it especially good as the main ingredient in a method mix to pull in the carp.

There aren't many places where you can pick up a bag of the original these days, I had to order my last lot through a local animal feed supplier.

I also found that it doesn't keep very well once opened - I one bought the big 12.5 KG bag and had to chuck most of the remainder out. Weevils love it too!
