thought i would let you know about the perch .

You will be pleased to know that between between us there were 12 caught over 1lb and of them 3 were estimated at 3lb.

But even more interesting is last week we were told there was a 5lb and a 4lb fish caught :D , it wasnt the shop that told us , but still came from a reliable source.

Cheers for the info, they are some very impressive Perch.

Stephen

Im off to bury hill this saturday for our christmas competition that was postponed because of the ice , unfortunatly we are not on the old lake as i know how to fish that , we are on milton which is the next best lake on the complex ive been told , the whole place is lovely anyway and im looking forward to it even thou we are in for gales saturday .

Apparently its stocked with loads of tench, cruican, bream , and some cracking roach and perch .

I was wondering if anyone has fished it in winter and whats the best approach ?

The weather was a howler on milton saturday but we persivered and some caught fairly steady but not me on peg 20 , the wind was ripping straight at me and i didnt manage it very well to be honest . The advice given by ross in the shop and by modern mike made good sense and was what i had in mind myself , but strangely enough it was those that fed heavy with groundbait and pellet that caught well. Sometimes it pays to feed heavy but in a match in winter your normally better feeding very little and not very often . I did get a few very nice roach and rudd feeding in the last hour fishing tight to a reed bed close in throwing in 4 casters every fish 2 of which were about a pound . Just wish id stuck to that earlier, but still enjoyed catching about 6lb of quality roach & rudd in the last hour to finish 5th outside the money. Pleased i beat the people pegged closest to me , thats always my aim and sometimes the best you can achieve.

The winner got on the bream to finish with 28lb with a 2lb perch included.

There were 11 decent perch caught over a pound and 1 about 3lb.

:)
