My wife and I took the twins to Tenerife a week or so ago and stayed in an obscure and quiet flat on the southeast side of the island. I didn't try to fish but found myself wishing I would have taken at least a fly rod. Ten days til the rivers open! I can't wait.

 

Envious of these guys..

and this was the second taken of these in about 5 days. I think it was a marlin. If I knew they were going to release them after I may have booked a trip. <_<

It's always worth packing a small telescopic rod when going away. They are not always the best tool for the job, but it lets you have the odd session when you come across potential fishing opportunities.

 

The problem is I never seem to know the licence situation when abroad, should you have one. If yes how do you go about getting one?

I asked myself those same questions, but really it was all about getting the Knuckleheads out and about on the sand and in the water. Fishing comes a close second to everything else right now and I can't wait to take them. Just keeping them focused on one thing is a struggle!

The internet is a wonderful resource, just search for where you're going and it'll normally tell you all you need to know, and where to get them from.

Yes, we do a lot of research before our trips abroad - licences, accomodation, transport in addition to finding the best spots and getting clued up on the seasons and life-style of the quarry..

In fact the anticipation and preparation can be nearly as fascinating as the trip itself, and certainly pays off in results.
