Well i count when lakes open before the river season as the new season

but 95% of lakes dont close so unless you fish them 5% of lakes then you cant have a new season.

 

If you do happen to fish just that 5% of lakes then good on ya =)

Doesn't that 5% that are closed open on the 16th as well?

 

Roll on the 16th anyway ,can't waite to get on the Severn/Dane.

Doing OK so far this year. Best (heaviest) fish, is a 38.6 mirror.

 

I've also had three tench over 8 lbs., biggest 8.12 and a 16lb. bream. Sadly, these 'don't count' for me because they were caught on heavy carp gear. I really must try a bit of float/feeder fishing for these superb specimens.

Best evening session of the year last night, 8 carp to 11lb, 2 tench to 2lb, a 3½lb chub and a ¾lb crucian. Four carp off the top, the rest on the float close in.

 

It was surprisingly chilly though, I nearly went back to the car for a woolly hat.
