Free to choose apart from the ones where the trust poked their nose in. Common eel. tope. Bass and sea bream. All restricted.

New for 2016 TAT are the main instigators for the demise of the u k bass charter boat industry, where they went screaming off to parliament and for the first time assisting so called angling gurus set up bass take bans with the e u using rubbish exaggerated info collected by ices from anglers, they must be very proud.

Upgrade, the door has been closed with regards to anglers being linked to the e u superstate and the failed c f p. So TAT will no longer need to pay monies to the EAA anymore as that org is no longer relevant to the u k . Goodbye to the europeon anglers alliance and pathetic restrictions from the e u.

Angling is better than politics, ban politics from angling.

Consumer of bass. where is the evidence that the u k bass stock need angling trust protection. Why won't you work with your peers instead of castigating them. They have the answer.

Recipie's for mullet stew more than welcomed.

Angling sanitation trust and kent and sussex sea anglers org delete's and blocks rsa's alternative opinion on their face book site. Although they claim to rep all.

new for 2014. where is the evidence that the south coast bream stock need the angling trust? Your campaign has no evidence. Why won't you work with your peers, the inshore under tens? As opposed to alienating them? Angling trust failed big time re bait digging, even fish legal attempted to intervene and failed, all for what, nothing.

Looks like the sea angling reps have been coerced by the ifca's to compose sea angling strategy's that the ifca's at some stage will look at drafting into legislation to manage the rsa, because they like wasting tax payers money. That's without asking the rsa btw. You know who you are..

Oi

Maybe you should stick to your 50lb roller guide 6'6" and biggest charter special 10/0 on offer :P

I'll have you know that both my 30-50 and 50-80 roller guide rods are 7'9" and (will very soon) sport a custom made 3/0 reel capable of 63lb of drag at full!!!

Mind you I have got an Allcock's Climax split cane boat rod that I think was originally the mainmast from a rather large ship and an equally large stainless 'pin that was probably part of the same ship's capstan to go with it :P

Eating wild caught fish is good for my health, reduces food miles and keeps me fit trying to catch them........it's my choice to do it, not yours to stop me!

Well the Penn 460L turned up today, along with 300 yds of 30lb (0.28mm) Power Pro. I spooled up and attached it to the Ugly Stik 6lb. Perfect, could have been made for each other. The balance is absolutely perfect and....it looks right!

I tested the drag and the live liner/baitcaster jobby and I was amazed at the grunt in the bottom end of that rod. I can see some fun coming on in the summer on the pack tope :D

The drag on the reel is smooth with a nice adjustment. Half a turn on the knob increases the drag but not by huge amounts. Ideal for light line fishing. I can see a 8-10' mono leader going on the end using 6-8lb for bream and huss and maybe 10lb for the tope.

Happy bunny......now where's that Avet catalogue?..........

You tart

One question though Worms, 6lb class rod yet 30lb braid? I would consider lighter, say 20lb, i wouldn't go under that for boat use however as, if there is a tangle problem with others on the boat, it sometimes ends in tears.

Multi purpose mate, I can use the reel on my uptider, my 15lb class and my 20-30 if I like......and for pike fishing!

A spare spool would have been nice but, when you see all the gubbins (drag discs etc.) in there you realise why they don't include one. Oh well, I could get another and spool it with 15-20lb!

Morning, I'm in the market for a lightweight boat rod. I've been contemplating the Ugly Stik 6lb 8'2" model but I'm also considering buying a fixed spool reel (because I can). I've been looking at the Penn Live liner 460L. The reel could be used on my uptider as well.

My concern is that the Ugly Stik is built as a multiplier rod so, is it suitable for a fixed spool reel or, are the rings/spine etc. just not suitable. Any other suggestions?

Depends what you want it for? My standard summer kit is a 10ft Veals Sure Spin MKII rod matched with a Shimano Ultegra 4500 fixed spool loaded with 30lb PP. I use that for hounds, turbot, bass and even tope (tope to just shy of 50lb last year).

I also take along a lighter, Fox Mullet Master 11ft rod (unfortuantely they don't make these anymore) with a smaller fixed spool reel - again for the hounds, bass, plaice, bream etc.

If you want a seriously good rod, check out the new Yasei range from Shimano - they're ajpanese rods designed for use with fixed spool reels - speed jigging and vertical jigging blanks. Very, very nice!
