I don't understand !

Well i want to do some spinning, but as i want to do it on a barbless hooks only lake, does the rule apply for spinners ?

 

All the spinners i have have never came out of the box they were bought in by my grandad, nearly 40 years ago. I'm sure the hook are fine, but i will check before i use them.

 

Trouble is all the hooks have barbs on them. What should i do ?

just crush the barbs down ,if they catch sticking them through a pair of tights file off the offending catchy bits ,or cut off the barbed hook and replace them with barbless trebles using a tiny ring.

not only does one lake have (in a FAS water) a barbless rule it also has a single hook rule as well so trebles cannot be used on spinners

If they are that old and boxed I'd be tempted to look after them and NOT use them.

 

Tackle shops have plenty of cheapo ones you can adapt.

Some old lures are worth a hellavu lot to lure collecters, especially boxed lures.

Buy cheap spinners and crush the trebles, it is easily done in seconds with a pair of pliers and it becomes hard to tell (if crushed properly) the hook was ever barbed

I go with leon on this one, some 40 year old tackle, especially lures, can go for silly money. Flog 'em on e-bay and buy some modern, fishing catching soft baits!

i'm getting quite a collection via car boots, nothing special mind but a start ,plenty of tobies ,salamanders ,lill tommy's etc a few on cards,i had to buy a box to put them in

Na just changed me mind.

Just use them and try your luck.

You might not get caught.

If you do get a visit just let the lure snag on the bottom and break your line, no one will know they had barbs then.

 

They are only one spinners so can soon be replaced by new ones.

If you're not to sure about receiving stuff from strangers over the net, get your parents to check with the moderators and a few of the members on here, like Gerry (Argylle). I've sent him lures and I think he can pretty much vouch for the fact I'm not a loony.
