ANGLING UNITY, IS IT POSSIBLE ?

[]Judging by the dates this thread has dried up!

Aaah!...But that is where you are wrong!

This thread is far from dried up, it is merely having a little break while anglers talk of angling for a while!

Unity is very much at the forefront of anglers minds, and is moving forward at a tremendous pace. I attended an SACG meeting on Sunday last and there can be no doubt in my mind of this.

As for NASA, watch this space as some news of this group will be here soon.

Over to you Mike! biggrin.gif

Hi all, sorry been away for some time fishing working and angling politics, but have now caught up. As far as unity is concerned at a National level it has happened, unfortunatly I can't say anymore but a joint statement from the Angling Governing Bodies will be issued soon, a great step forward and hopefully a new begining. Both the SACG and NASA at a recent meeting have agreed how the two groups will merge and who will take up the initial committe positions. Assuming that the memberships of both organisations approve this at their EGM's then a new and reformatted group calling itself the Specialist Anglers Alliance will emerge in the new year. So my freinds it is happening and what we now need is people like you who care and have a real passion for the sport to get a bit more involved. I would just like to add my thanks to everyone who has participated in this thread as many of the veiws expressed and enthusiasm shown has assisted in recent discision making, thanks also to Steve Pope for starting it and Elton for his support. Anyway carry on as there is still much to discuss, if you want more info about getting involved send me an e. alan@paauk.com

An interesting post from the League Against Cruel Sports forum:

'I am against all forms of animal abuse, a proper anti. I have been reading the tread comparing fishing to hunting. A number of

contributors have been putting forward the view that fishing is either not cruel, or not as cruel as hunting. This is unsupportable.

The sole purpose of either coarse or fly fishing is to provide entertainment. It cannot be argued that being hooked and fighting for to two hours before being dragged out of the water is anything but cruel.

The reason that people try to justify fishing is because fish do not look cute like foxes. It is the same with dolphins and sharks.

Sharks are not a significant threat to man, although they are killed on a daily basis. Dolphins on the other hand are cute and

therefore attract a lot of supporters wanting to protect them.

For real animal supporters like myself people who support one form of abuse whilst being against another are as much a

menace as the abusers. However Caspar seems to have his head screwed on.

There is a plethora of what can only be described as menopausal women on this site whose sole occupation is protecting what

is cute as opposed to animals full stop. If you are going to fight for animals fight for them all not just the attractive ones.

There is a lot of hypocrisy about, this is even admitted by the LACS itself.

The only saving grace fishing has is its participants tend to be working class as opposed the upper class toffs who hunt.

It will all be banned soon so the bumpkins will have to find something else to do.

We sab angling now, once we have dealt with hunting we will get it banned along with shooting. Visit the HAS site for more

info of how to get involved.'

HAS should read HSA (Hunt Saboteurs Association)

Food for thought?

Well done uk_lurcher

At last we have it from the horse's mouth and here it is on this site. NOW WILL EVERYONE BELIEVE US WHEN WE SAY ANGLING IS NEXT!!

The interesting thing about this post is that the class war rears it's ugly head yet again. I have had it from sabs in the past that there is a Marxist agenda being played out in the animal rights groups in the hope of causing civil unrest over the issue.

Even menopausal women aren't safe from this lunatic's criticism.

Have you all seen that the Government is now proposing stronger controls on the issue of shotgun licences? Another nail in the coffin of field sports. It is only a few months since "Our Tone" told us all that angling and shooting were safe as long a s he was Prime Minister. The trouble with Blair is that he forgets too quickly which lie he told last.

Start writing to your MPs now to defend your sport. It will be too late if you all wait until they have drafted legislation.

Have a nice weekend

Mike

Steve Pope - great words about the social interaction side of things.

We need to promote the sport to the anglers of tommorow, but your vision I feel is correct.

I do agree, but we need to make sure they start off responsible. I fish (for fun) a free stretch of the Lea, which is littered with bags of tin cans, broken bottles, and yards of discarded line. As soon as you pick it up.... well anyway... it's not just kids but mostly, and they need to know this is not the way to go....

Oh dear, this is bad news, but well done indeed UKL. A class war indeed. These people are really dim. I suppose they'd have a ball pigeon-holing someone who comes from a working class backround with a middle class job. Or the other way round. Well, I don't really give a monkey's but there are those who will bite on the 'class' issue for sure.

Menopausal women. Menopausal women. I personally have issue with that, my mother was very ill, and in fact ended up sectioned in a psychiatric ward, partly due to menopausal illness. Let's face it, people like this poster aren't there to save animals at all, they're trouble makers, just the same as football hooligans, but with some kind of a 'cause'.

Oh yes, and Blair is a two-faced, fork-tongued, lying **** isn't he just. He's more interested in keeping the middle classes happy anyway, if we are to accept the Animal Rights classification of our sport! So we shouldn't be too surprised if he 'eh eum, been listening to my REM and Nirvana records.. ehhh ehh bit of trouble with my son getting a little drunk ehh uhh' doesn't come up with the goods in the end. What do we expect anyway, he's a politician! Apologies to any honest politicians on the site, if you're out there.....

Alan says that the angling governing bodies have reached agreement on getting together and unity is to be announced.

Those that might have read my article and some of the posts that I put up will see that I was distinctly uneasy about the way it was being done.

That's history now - it's been done and whether I had reservations or not is now unimportant.

For the thing to be given every chance of working, we must all support this effort at unifying angling.

So if you were like me, a tad uncertain, forget your misgivings and give it that support - it won't work otherwise and angling will lose, yet again.

I wonder if anyone can spot the similarities between these "anti" groups and Hitlers Nazis?

Both seem to wish to impose their views on and dominate others and both seem to be prepared to use violence on others in order to impose their will on others.

Perhaps we need to consider a form of counter offensive labling them these crypto- nazis for what they are and exposing them to the public gaze as dangerous little thugs who need to be caged.

Just a thought....
