ANGLING UNITY, IS IT POSSIBLE ?

I wonder if anyone can spot the similarities between these "anti" groups and Hitlers Nazis?

Both seem to wish to impose their views on and dominate others and both seem to be prepared to use violence on others in order to impose their will on others.

Perhaps we need to consider a form of counter offensive labling them these crypto- nazis for what they are and exposing them to the public gaze as dangerous little thugs who need to be caged.

Just a thought....

I'd woulnd't be so worried, except that by all reports they seem to take physical action as part of the game. Now, I'm no chicken, but I'm probably not much bigger than Rollin' Ray.... let's just hope we don't need our own army of terrorists to protect ourselves from these thugs..

Well if angling unity has been reached, then it was a fine thing that Steve Pope did by starting this thread.

This is a fine thread and Steve Pope knows how much his starting the thread was appreciated, but Unity came through a different route.

A lot of hard work from a very few caring individuals and some hard pushing from a few well known figures in angling. This bulletin board made some people realise just how much anglers wanted unity and they were forced to react to this and other pressures. Having acheived "unity" in angling we must now all try and make it work. I just wish the powers that be would make the announcement so that we can all judge just what has been acheived.

Personally I think this is carrying news management to extremes.

yes, sorry if that came across wrong, I just didn't mean to imply one person alone had acheived it! Just that the chance to discuss the issue amongst the more humourous angling issues was greatly appreciated.

Mike & Big Al - yes, this is terrible news management. How much longer then?

I'm all for unity Steve, but when we have a leading member of the BS describing other single species groups as "secretive and mistique", and saying that the BS were involved with issues on a higher level, I wonder if we will ever achieve this.

I and other CSG members have worked for many years to change the by-laws in Northumbria to give some protection to coarse fish during the close season, I have seen no evidence of BS activity on this important issue, or is it only southern rivers that are worthy of its attention?

As for being secretive, nothing could be further from the truth, ask anyone who has attended our get to gethers. What we do object to is anglers who join and then take the ****(we have had the odd? one in recent years) and those that use the group for their own personal ends.

On the other front we still have some game anglers that think coarse fish should not be allowed to contaminate the rivers that they fish

Be patient a statement on Angling Unity will be released soon. Be more concerned with the anti's and look to start your own counter measures wherever you see them appear. Look too, and use every opportunity to promote angling on a local level. You'll be surprised how easy it is to get positive angling related issues printed in your own local press. Like wise most local councils are keen to help promote angling especially for youngsters. Start getting these people on your side NOW for pretty soon you may need their support.

Probably the same reason that the Ruffe Society has not joined! Seriously though, not all of us are happy at the way the SACG has thrust itself onto anglers. We have, as has been said, the NFA.

You miss the point. SACG are members of NFA and represent specialist anglers at that level, amongst others.

If we left it entirely to NFA, without prerssure from SACG, the situation regarding the river close season could well be different and the EA attitudes to alien species, rod limits, otter predation and many other areas of concern might be different.

SACG represents most of the single specie groups and does a job that most of them could not do individually. It may not be perfect, few organisations are, but it is the best you have at the moment. If you want to change it, join and work with us from within to improve the lot of angers.
