BARBLE IN" STILLWATERS!"

Sorry guys this is going to be vague. :(

 

A number of years ago I distinctly remember an Angling Times piece, on what I think was a reservoir in the midlands where Barbel were breeding.

 

If I remember right, the cover shot was of an angler holding a tiny Barbel he'd just caught.

 

I thought I'd post this in case it jogged someones memory.

The venue was Trimpley Reservoir in Worcs. and the angler was Peter Rayment (now dead, sadly). Ray caught thousands of small and medium-sized barbel from the reservoir, which lies alongside the Severn and which gains water pumped from the river.

 

It is highly likely that the barbel arrived as fry in that water, although I suppose they could have come in as eggs (but I strongly doubt it). I have heard nothing from Trimpley for years so I am not sure of the current position there.
