If....

If somebody contacted you because they had news of plans that may affect angling access to canals, which magazines and bodies would you put them in contact with?

Purely hypothetical, of course...

NFA - a lot of their members have canals, and they'll report back to NAA or whatever the governing body is called these days (I lost count).

Sore point with me, this is.

A few years ago a local club tried to get a lease on a few hundred yards of canal.

British Waterways would not grant a lease it said because the banks were unsafe for angling!

But, were they unsafe for boaters, no!

Where they unsafe for pedestrians, no!

Cyclists, No!. I have fished it many times for free, as have a lot more. Last year however they closed the towpath. They are currently lowering the towpath height from the water(much better). They look to have rebuilt the canal wall completely and are putting a tarmac pathway down and clearing the hawthorns back. I fear that they will now grant a lease to the club so we are paying to have our poles smashed by the cyclists who by virtue of the smooth tarmac will be able to really come up to speed without us hearing them. I am not a happy bunny

I expect to pass through this world but once; any good thing therefore that I can do, or any kindness I can show to any fellow - creature, let me do it now, let me not defer or neglect it, for I shall not pass this way again.

Dunk Fairley:

You can start with me. I've got all the relavent addresses, e-mails etc. If you let me know, i'll point it in  the right direction asap.

What I'll do is drop it into our communication chain, so I reckon it'll take about two hours to get where it should go.

Cheers, Dunk. Could I have an email address to pass on?

Cheers,

Elton
