I have the opportunity to fish at lake in wiltshire. Only 50 tickets are available per season (July - March). Has anyone fished the lakes at bowood house?

Any info on types of fish, weight and baits etc would be very helpful.

Looks like an interesting place to fish, I would be inclined to get a ticket and give it ago.

Ive been on the waiting list for over 18 months and a position has opened due to a member not renewing. For a season ticket its £185 per season. For me thats quite a price but as i live 3 miles away I will be there as much as possible.

Worth the money imo, im abit old school with fishing, I love dense overgrown with reedy lakes alive with nature. Not much of a fan of these open carp lakes. So hopefuly this bowood house lakes and estate will be as good as I hope.

About 18 months ago I contacted them via their website and spoke to their game keeper. The tickets very in price. I paid £185 for the season. - Alot of money indeed, but for a untaimed, natural fishing lake close by I would pay twice that.

The following season prices are lower.

There are alot of rules, no night fishing, no barbless hookes, bait boats etc.

 

If you can get on the list then their might be more spaces becoming available in the future.

Yes I would definitely take up the membership! Expensive, maybe, but definitely worth it to fish such a lovely lake. Not sure why they don't mention Carp on the website, there are definitely quite a few carp in there (some of them pretty sizeable) - I saw plenty when I walked around the lake a year or so ago! N
